Attorney Robert J. Fitzsimmons

Robert J. Fitzsimmons is one of the founding members of Fitzsimmons & Mills, P.C. In addition to his practice at Fitzsimmons & Mills, P.C., Robert also serves as the County Attorney for Columbia County, New York.

At Fitzsimmons & Mills, P.C., Robert handles all aspects of municipal law inclusive of environmental, land use and zoning as he is counsel and has been special counsel to many local municipalities within Columbia County. Other aspects of Robert’s practice include plaintiff’s and defendant’s civil litigation, including personal injury, contract and construction litigation. Robert also handles both commercial and residential real estate matters.

As the County Attorney, Robert represents the Board of Supervisors as well as all County Departments in all matters of legislation, defense and prosecution of litigation, contracts, acquisitions, and compliance with federal, state and local laws.

Robert J. Fitzsimmons received his Associates degree in Criminal Justice from Tompkins Cortland Community College in 1993, and his Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude in 1995 from the State University of New York College at Brockport where he dual majored in Criminal Justice and Psychology.

Robert received his Juris Doctor Degree, cum laude, from Albany Law School in 1998. While at Albany Law, Robert was a member of the Albany Law Review, serving as Executive Editor for Legal Research and Writing.

He is admitted to practice in both New York State and Federal Courts. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Columbia County Bar Association. Robert Fitzsimmons resides in the Village of Kinderhook.
